Restaurateur Jeff Ruby says he did not post Cincinnati officer’s bond

Cincinnati restaurateur Jeff Ruby defended himself on social media Friday after false reports surfaced saying he posted bond for the former police officer charged with killing Samuel DuBose during a traffic stop.
Ruby took to Twitter early Friday to clear his name in the rumors that were reportedly started on Twitter by @BMoore5300, who said Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, Papa Johns and LaRosa’s Pizza “put up bail for Ray Tensing.”
Tensing, a fired University of Cincinnati police officer, is charged with murder in the shooting death of DuBose on July 19. He posted bail and been released from jail Thursday evening.
On Friday, Ruby told The Cincinnati Enquirer that the rumor prompted bomb threats against his downtown Cincinnati steakhouse. The paper also said Ruby received death threats. He told the Enquirer he did not post bail and said: “What a bunch of crap. I might not bail him out if he was my own son.”
Ruby, who attended DuBose’s funeral service, Tweeted: “Dear Mr.& Mrs DuBose, I met you at the funeral, invited you to dinner and expressed my feelings. Please be assured I didn’t post his bail”
Ruby re-posted a Tweet from a man who shared a copy of a bail receipt from the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts. The document showed the $100,085 bond — 10 percent of a $1 million bond — was paid by Paul Tensing, Raymond Tensing’s father. The Enquirer confirmed that court records show it was Tensing’s father who posted bond.
