’90s FreakNik’ Documentary Recounts The Legendary Spring Break Event

This story flashes back to the ATL, and reminds me of a dear friend! #RIPNATEQUICK
Before Miami and Cancun became the destination of choice for college students during Spring Break, in the 1990’s Atlanta’s annual FreakNik was the go-to place for students from HBCU’s.
What started out as a picnic, eventually grew into something more, which featured live performances from some of music’s biggest names. The annual weekend event, which soon became the stuff of legend, drew attendees from across the country where all kinds of fun, camaraderie and debauchery went down.
A 40 minute documentary about FreakNik has made its way to YouTube with commentary from several different Atlanta area DJs who tell the tale of how it all started and its influence on Atlanta music.
