Morehouse College announces its assistant dean has been placed on unpaid administrative leave following a video and a series of tweets with disturbing accusations going viral.
“Demarcus Crews has been placed on unpaid administrative leave effective immediately pending more information from the investigation,” Morehouse College president writes in a letter.
After various attempts to report sexual misconduct to the college, a student takes to Twitter to tell his truth about what happened with Dean Crews.
“I was assaulted by a staff member by the name of Demarcus Crews,” he says. “He was making advances at me, telling me I need d**k”.
As the video continues, the student recalls various instances in which he says Crews displayed “predatory” behavior toward him. Despite his claims, he says the college has done nothing to help.
“It got to the point where I got into a bad depression,” he says. “Morehouse has not responded to anything that happened. They’ve ignored my emails and my calls.”
Since the student’s video has gone viral, multiple students have taken to Twitter to speak on the sexual abuse they have experienced at the hands of Crews and other Morehouse faculty.
In a video, Bryson says he was sexually harassed by Crews during a summer program a year prior to him attending the college.
“I remember there were some nights that he would call me at 2 in the morning,” Bryson says. “But I always noticed he treated me differently than the other students.”
Bryson says he thought nothing of Crews’ actions at first, but began to feel uncomfortable when his advances became more obvious.
“He would always make references to my sexuality,” Bryson says. “One day he even said to me ‘I know all of these girls want your p*ssy’ and I knew he meant other administrators.”
Although it is unclear if the students are receiving any support, Morehouse says it is investigating the allegations while Crews is on leave.
