Forever 21 Issues Apology For Diet Bars Being Shipped Inside Plus Size Orders

When the backlash gets to be too intense…the apologies will quickly follow! That’s exactly what happened when fast fashion retailer Forever 21 found itself in the middle of a firestorm of controversy when diet bars were found inside several plus size orders. Now, the company has issued an apology and attempted to explain exactly what happened.
Earlier this week, several Forever 21 customers took to social media to air out their disbelief and anger upon finding Atkins diet bars inside their plus size online orders. Clearing noticing the backlash was getting very intense, the company has issued an official apology, in a statement given to @USAToday.
The official statement from Forever 21 reads:
“From time to time, Forever 21 surprises our customers with free test products from third parties in their e-commerce orders. The freebie items in question were included in all online orders, across all sizes and categories, for a limited time and have since been removed. This was an oversight on our part and we sincerely apologize for any offense this may have caused to our customers, as this was not our intention in any way.”
Seeing as they were roped into the controversy as well, Atkins issued its own statement on the incident, explaining that the company was unaware of the issue and is solely “focused on a lifestyle nutritional approach where everyone can benefit from overall health and wellbeing [and that] the intention of sampling Atkins products is to share snacks that taste great with optimal nutritional benefit.”
Despite the apology, many Forever 21 customers have vowed to no longer support the brand, due to feelings of being body-shamed and fat-shamed.
