Heading the NFL Superbowl Halftime is what anyone would think is a lifetime goal for all Artist, jut gracing the stage for one o the biggest crowds and largest platforms seems like a dream. Especially with Super bowl SBLIII scheduled to be in Atlanta, Georgia next year. Rihanna was the front runner for next years superbowl. The NFL reached out to the multi platinum R&B Artist and she proceeded to turn their offer down o headline the half time show.
Rihanna has sated that she does not agree with the NFL’s stance on the Colin Kaepernick situation.
Colin Kaepernick and his decision to kneel during the national anthem began as a protest of police brutality and racial inequality, which has since cost him his job in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. This protest has caused a big controversy throughout the country and has lead to boycott Rihanna is not the only artist boycotting the NFL, she is actually one of five artist to turn down or blatantly state they wouldn’t perform at the superbowl! Artist such as Amy Shumer, P!nk, Cardi B and Jay Z all have expressed their suport for Kaepernick and turned down offers to perform.
Although the NFL has secured Maroon 5 to perform for the halftime show, other artist are calling for them to pull out. This controversy might change the Superbowl as we know it.
