The Cobb County Sheriff's Department in Georgia have addressed claims that Young Thug is being held in “torturous” jail conditions. As previously reported, Thug, Gunna and other YSL members were arrested last week and charged with RICO charges and more. Thug's attorney has claimed that the rapper is being held in “dungeon like” jail conditions while awaiting trial, including no windows, he hasn't been allowed to bathe or work out and has no access to media, radio or television.
According to WSBTV, an unidentified jail official said that the rapper is living in standard conditions. The official said, “This is a jail, it is a detention center. It’s not the Ritz Carlton, so you have to recognize that.”
Another official confirmed that Thug is being held in solitary confinement for his own well-being, given his celebrity status. Southern Christian Leadership Conference members were brought in to assess the jail as well.
Col. Temetris Atkins said, “The purpose of today is to let the community know that we’re not doing anything that we don’t want them to see. We run an above-board jail and we want anybody and everybody to know that.”
