Meek Mill – Indie Pack Vol. 1(EP)
Meek is officially in his independent bag. Indie Pack Vol. 1 is his first fully independent EP high-energy, raw, and straight to the point. Has the classic Meek Mill sound.
Lola Brooke – Iight Bet (EP)
Lola dropped Iight Bet, and she’s talking crazy on this one. Full of personality, Brooklyn grit, and confidence. She’s showing versatility and holding her own. Worth a spin for sure.
Summer Walker – Finally Over It
Summer finally dropped Finally Over It, and the wait was worth it. The album comes with 18 tracks, full of R&B emotion and smooth replay value.
Features include 21 Savage, Latto, Doja Cat, and more.
Some of my favorites:
- “Baby”
- “Get Yo Boy”
Wale – Everything Is a Lot
This is one album I’ve really been looking forward to. Everything Is a Lot is definitely worth the listen. It’s a whole vibe and shows Wale is still in that lyrical comfort zone.
Standout joints for me:
- “Watching Us” (feat. Leon Thomas)
- “Where To Start”
- “Big Head”
- Local Artist Spotlight: Lester Kohkuh – G-Pers Creepers
This week’s spotlight goes to Lester Kohkuh, who just dropped his new album G-Pers Creepers, another solid addition from an artist who’s been consistently releasing dope projects almost every year since 2020.
Lester’s been rapping since he was 8, inspired by watching his big brother make music. Now 33, he still treats music as therapy something he’ll always do, win or lose. Originally from Chattanooga, TN, he landed in Lexington after traveling and connecting with someone here, and the city has shown him love ever since.
The concept for G-Pers Creepers came from one of his producers, dark, gritty, drill-influenced, and perfect for the Halloween season. Lester says he doesn’t cap in his music; most of it is real life, and the rest is storytelling and creativity, painting pictures of the world around him.
My favorite joints off the album:
🔥 Get Guap
🔥 Got The Juice
🔥 State Property
His personal favorite is “The Setup,” a track where he really had to tap into story mode and get deep in his bag.
And his chemistry with Baby Loaded is only getting stronger. A joint project? It’s on the way. Believe that.
What’s next for Lester? More music, more videos, more interviews, and more elevation. He says anybody can make music but not everybody handles the business. That’s where he’s locked in.
Stay tuned. G-Pers Creepers is just the start.
Hip-Hop News
Summer Walker made headlines this week after revealing in a recent interview that she often has to fight with her label about the length of her R&B songs. She said she actually wants to make longer records, real 4–5 minute tracks like the great old-school artists used to do but the label thinks anything over 2:30–3:00 minutes won’t perform well in today’s climate.
That’s why so many of her songs end up shorter than she’d like.
And honestly… I get it.
For me, it depends on the vibe:
- If it’s true R&B .. real emotion, real structure, no auto-tune everywhere. . . give me the long version. I’ll take a five-minute record any day.
- But for the newer wave of R&B, I’m cool with the shorter tracks.
Artists like Summer Walker, E.J. Jones, , and October London, if they dropped five-minute songs, I’d run those back every time. Some voices just deserve the extra time.
So I gotta ask y’all:
Do you prefer short R&B songs… or longer ones with that old-school feel?
That’s it for this week’s Music Mondays.
Catch you next time and as always stay fly.
