Music Mondays with Fly KP 12.15.25

untitled-6

Some heat dropped over the weekend, so let’s get straight to it.

21 Savage — What Happened to the Streets?

Nice surprise from 21 Savage dropping a full album on us. The project stays true to his lane dark, gritty, and straight to the point. It’s one of those albums you can let ride without skipping around.
Standout track: “DOG $HIT” is easily one of my favorites off the project and already in rotation.

Nas & DJ Premier — Light Years

Two legends finally locking in for a full album. Nas delivers sharp, seasoned bars while DJ Premier lays down those classic, hard-hitting beats. This is hip-hop in its purest form.
Standout track: “GiT Ready”  that grown-man rap with a timeless feel.

Pooh Shiesty — FDO (First Day Out)

Pooh Shiesty finally gave us his first day out joint, and he did not disappoint. You can hear the hunger and urgency all over this track. One of my favorite songs to drop this weekend and a strong return.

Local Artist Spotlight: Donny Cash — Shaolin

This week’s Local Artist Spotlight goes to Donny Cash and his latest joint, “Shaolin.”

From the moment the beat comes in, the keys pull you into a trance and set the mood. After the first eight bars, it’s clear this record is different. The vulnerability and storytelling immediately stand out, and the energy lets you know this is something meant to be felt, not just heard.

Donny considers himself a rapper’s rapper, and Shaolin proves it with sharp bars and intentional lyrics. As Donny puts it, “‘Shaolin’ says I’m hungry. I’m coming for everything that’s mine, doing it passionately and close to the heart.”

The record also represents growth. Donny says he’s more polished now and trusting himself more as an artist. Where earlier work felt technical, Shaolin feels free and authentic a reflection of who he is today.

Donny was also featured on Mad Wavy Tape: The Alumni, an experience that showcased the city’s versatility and creativity. His long standing connection with Tony Wavy reflects a shared commitment to pushing the Lexington and Kentucky music scene forward.

Shaolin is just the beginning more music is on the way.

I’m always looking for local artists to spotlight. If you know someone making noise — or if you’re an artist and think you deserve that shine hit me up.
