I’m breaking down my Top 5 Favorite Albums, plus Artists to Watch in 2026.
This is mainstream and local, and just to be clear … no specific order.
Favorite Mainstream Projects of 2025
Drake — Nokia
This project was really a bop. Drake did what Drake does smooth records, catchy moments, and joints that stayed in rotation.
Offset — Kiari
Offset snapped on this one. The album was fire front to back, and it really showed his growth as an artist while still keeping that edge.
Cardi B — Am I the Drama?
This one lived up to the hype. Cardi delivered exactly what fans were waiting for, and the energy on this project was undeniable.
Wale — Everything Is A lot
I was really excited for this album, and once I finally heard it, I was glad I waited. Thoughtful, mature, and well put together, Wale did his thing.
Metro Boomin —Metro Boomin Presents: A Futuristic Summer
This album gave me early 200os vibes and reminded me of when ATL really took over the game. Metro curated this project perfectly, and it felt like a moment.
Artists to Watch in 2026
Monaleo
She’s been consistent, confident, and really carving her own lane. Monaleo has been putting in work, and I expect even bigger moves in 2026.
KWN
If you’re into R&B, KWN has been popping lately. The sound, the vibe, the presence definitely someone to keep your eye on.
EJ Jones
One of the smoothest voices in the game. Don’t judge him by the cover EJ Jones always delivers quality and soul in his music.
Metro Boomin
Yes, Metro again. He’s been on a crazy run, and I already know he’s got some big projects lined up for 2026. Producer dominance continues.
Kelly Rowland
She’s making a real comeback. With an album expected later in 2026, this is one I’m genuinely looking forward to. Legendary status, still evolving.
Local Favorites of 2025
We’re right on time for the local side. These are some of my favorite local projects of 2025 records that stayed in rotation and really made an impact. No specific order.
DallaRina — “Come Outside”
This joint really got me hype and stayed in rotation all year. Every time it came on, it delivered the same energy. DallaRina knows how to set a tone and keep it moving.
Tony Wavy — Mad Wavy Tape: The Alumni
A really dope project that brought together some strong artists from the city. This tape shows the versatility of the Lexington scene and is something everybody needs to tap into.
Yella Boi’z — Grams & Bricks
A solid project front to back. This album stayed in my rotation all year and never got old consistent vibes throughout.
Marley Carter — The Sunny Collection 2
I love Marley Carter’s whole vibe. This project felt smooth, intentional, and personal. One of those projects you can ride to, chill to, and really live with.
Elz Bentley — 3P
You already know when Elz Bentley drops, it’s gonna be fire. 3P stayed in rotation heavy for me, and on top of the music, I love the promo he does for his projects. The visuals, the rollout, the consistency it all adds to the experience.
Local Artists to Watch in 2026
These are artists I’m definitely keeping my eye on heading into 2026:
DallaRina
One of a kind and really in her own lane right now. She puts on every time, and I’m excited to see what she does next.
Donny Cash
Donny Cash was a new discovery this year for me, and I’m really rocking with the sound and overall vibe. looking forward to see what he does in 2026
Elz Bentley
Always on the go, always dropping bangers, and always coming with strong visuals. You can tell he’s serious about the craft.
Fredd C
One of the most consistent artists in the city. Always experimenting with new sounds and pushing himself creatively.
Martia
An R&B singer to keep an eye on. Smooth vocals, strong presence, and definitely someone to watch moving forward.
That’s my Music Mondays 2025 Wrap-Up albums/singles that stayed in rotation and artists I believe are about to have a big year.
