Music Mondays With Fly KP – 3/9/26

untitled-5-2

A few new projects dropped over the weekend, so let’s get straight into it.

Ty Dolla $ign – Girl Music Vol. 1

Ty Dolla $ign is back with a brand new EP called Girl Music Vol. 1. If you know Ty, you already know the vibe, smooth records made for the ladies. The project brings that signature Ty Dolla $ign sound with melodic hooks and laid-back R&B energy. And since it’s labeled Vol. 1, don’t be surprised if a second installment is already on the way.

Gnarls Barkley – Atlanta

That’s right — Gnarls Barkley is back together and back in the studio. Their new project Atlanta brings back the unique, funky, soul-influenced sound that made them stand out in the first place. If you’re a fan of creative, genre-blending music with a little funk and soul mixed in, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Fredo Bang – Most Hated 2

One of my favorite projects that dropped over the weekend has to be Fredo Bang’s new album Most Hated 2. The energy on this one is crazy from start to finish. Fredo delivers that raw, high-energy style fans have come to expect. One of my favorite joints off the project is “Up In Hea,” but honestly the whole thing is worth a listen.

Local Artist Spotlight: Mic Sinatra – The Real Kentucky

This week’s Local Artist Spotlight goes to Mic Sinatra and his new album The Real Kentucky.

Mic has been putting in work for a long time, saying he’s been making music professionally for about 13 years, but his love for it started much earlier.

“I’ve been playing with words since the age of 6. I fell in love with music at an early age, and my influences led me to start making my own.”

His new project is a big one,  over 25 tracks featuring a lot of artists from across Kentucky, especially Lexington. For Mic, the mission was bigger than just dropping another album.

“The number one goal was to showcase the talent statewide and put a spotlight on Lexington. Getting artists from different sides of the city on one album was big for the unity side.”

With that many songs, it’s hard to pick just one that defines the whole project, but Mic says “Meant To Be” gives a strong picture of the current state of Lexington. Another track that stood out to him was “Back 2 Bidness” by Studi, which surprised him with the level of bars and appreciation for real hip-hop.

Now that The Real Kentucky is out, Mic isn’t slowing down. He’s already preparing to release his next solo project Face Of It Too later this month,  a 20-track album he says will be a “no-skip” project.

For Mic Sinatra, the goal is simple: put Kentucky talent on the map.

                                                               Events to Look Out For

The Link Up – March 19

If you’re looking for something to do next week, check out The Link Up going down March 19th at Old North Bar. The event is free, doors open at 7:30 PM, and the show kicks off at 8 PM.

And it’s not just for rappers, whatever your talent is, bring it. If you sing, rap, dance, play the clarinet, harmonica, or anything else, this is your chance to get on stage and show people what you can do. The crowd brings the energy, and there’s a cash prize involved, so come ready to show out.
